12 songs for $6.00!
Early in my career as Stratos, I was composing original music for low-budget independent films such as The Screen. In my “off time” I began dabbling in remix contests as well as new arrangements of classic songs - which is how this album came to be. In December 2000, I began distributing rough mixes of some Christmas techno to close friends in family. In Fall 2001, I put the finishing touches on many of those songs and released them on a downloadable album called Cosmic Christmas through mp3.com. The following Fall I decided to mix and release the remaining songs I had demoed years before and released an EP called christmasongs which featured some vocal work by my wife Missy. The next year I compiled all the best of both prior Christmas albums and released techNO*EL as a concert exclusive. To support techNO*EL I played numerous small venues throughout Central Ohio. In addition to Christmas music, techNO*EL also featured some “holiday remixes” of some of my more popular songs at the time in addition to music by artists I was currently producing in the studio. In December 2004, I once again toured around Central Ohio to support a second printing of techNO*EL in addition to spreading the word on my latest endeavor... roleplaying game soundtracks.
This holiday season I wanted to give the gaming community at One Book Shelf a special treat so I’ve re-mastered most of the original songs from both Cosmic Christmas (2001) and christmasongs (2002) and compiled them here. I even left in one remix... ‘A techNO*EL Christmas’ which was written by my friends in Column 5 and remixed by me and originally appeared on techNO*EL (2003) and nowhere since.
Merry Christmas and good gaming!
